Diasec® & aluminium mounting - making photography great.

Diasec®

Developed in the late 1960’s Diasec® was the first system that allowed photographs to be bonded directly and permanently to acrylic sheet.

Diasec® panels are backed with pure aluminium sheet, reinforcing the rigidity of the finished panel. Giving a beautiful profile when viewed from the side. The aluminium back also enables us to attach one of our custom made pure aluminium sub-frames that allows the artwork to hang on the wall without a traditional picture frame. All materials are cut and hand finished in-house.

The component ingredients and the process of Diasec® are unique, patented and used exclusively under licence in the UK by KD Fine Art Solutions Ltd.

Diasec® uses a liquid gel, not sheet film adhesive. The biggest advantage of this is that air bubbles, and creases in the final product will never be present. You are not limited to a film sheet size and there are no added complications with large format images.

The exclusive primer for Diasec® contains a closely guarded formula. It produces a higher image definition, with richer colours and a detailed texture made more evident to the viewer.

Aluminium mounting

Aluminium is considered to be, not only the best way, but the only way to dry mount a high gloss quality photograph. The qualities of aluminium give a perfectly smooth and flat surface, allowing us to mount even the thickest gauge, glossiest photographic paper, to our highest standards over a vast area.

If you are having your artwork framed elsewhere, but would like us to mount the photograph, we are able to work ‘off spec’ to a Framers exact dimensions, ensuring that the finished, mounted photographic can slip faultlessly into the frame. Alternatively, our aluminium mounts can have one of our bespoke aluminium subframes bonded to the reverse, if you wanted to hang the picture directly to the wall. 

We occasionally dry mount works onto DiBond composite sheets too. Some of our customers prefer the slightly lighter material which can be well suited to many different papers. Whether you use DiBond or pure aluminium sheet we charge the same price.
